Get Ready for Winter with These Pool Safety Tips

When pools are used the most, in the spring and summer, accidents are more likely to happen. However, you should always think about safety tips, even in the winter. One of the main reasons people get hurt in pools in the winter is that they didn’t see the pool.

Break Down Portable Pools

Pools that can be moved can be dangerous when there is a lot of snow and strong winds. They are light and great for places where it is warm all year long. But if your pool won’t be used because of the weather, it’s best to put portable pools away for the winter. If you drain and take down the pool, it will be safe from bad weather and ready to use when it gets warmer.

Get Proper Covers for Pools

There are many different kinds of pool gear. The solid pool cover is the least safe for winter for a few reasons. If someone steps on the pool cover, they are also more likely to stick to a person or animal. One of the most dangerous things that can happen with a pool when it’s not in use is when someone steps on the cover without realizing it. They can quickly drown if they get caught in the pool cover. A safety cover is the best kind of pool cover to have. It can hold the weight of an elephant and is very strong. They are easy to take care of and worth the money.

Put-Away Equipment for Ground Pools

As with any permanent pool, you’ll need to put away the equipment and cover the pool for the winter. Ask our staff about pool covers that can be controlled by remote and other accessories for pools. As a safety measure, many people who have in-ground pools put up fences around them. This is a great way to keep your pool safe when no adults are around and when you want to close it. If you don’t have a fence, you might want to buy a gate or a pool alarm to keep an eye on your pool.

Prepare Above-Ground Pools

To get your above-ground pool ready for winter, take out any steps or ladders that lead to it. If you have a pool deck or another area that leads to the edge of the pool, you should block the way in.
